Can I safely supercharge my SUV this late in its life?

I have a '96 Acura SLX (essentially an Isuzu Trooper w/Acura badging) with 89K on the odometer. I want to supercharge her; she has a 3.2L V6. I am wondering if this car, now 13 years old, can handle the increase in power that a supercharger would give. Its a low mileage car, and Isuzu's run forever, so basically: Is it safe or should I scrap this idea?

My Jeep has 297,000 miles on it so I don't really consider 89K a lot of miles.

Supercharging will add stress to the engine. Make sure you take measures to control detonation that will occur by adding pressure to an engine originally designed for normal aspiration.

If the engine is in good shape mechanically, it should survive the added stress just fine. Make sure your compression is good and you do not have much blow by from the rings. Forced induction will only make that worse.

The bearings should still be good at that age if you have always used quality oil.

Increased power will add stress to other drive line components as well. Check to make sure the transmission and differential are up to the added torque.
